Thanksgiving

So our Thanksgiving did not go as planned. Before we planned to go to Wyoming to be with Correy's sister and her family and then go down to Salt Lake for Black Friday shopping. Well the whole week of Thanksgiving it decided to snow, and snow hard. And it was only getting worse, especially the day before Thanksgiving and the roads to Wyoming got really bad and we would have been driving in the dark so we opted to stay home. Which meant a one day notice to prepare Thanksgiving dinner. So we ran to the store and bought the smallest turkey we could find, which was still 12 pounds, then bought rolls since I burned the ones I made the day before, ingredients for yams and potatoes and pumpkin pie, then cheesecake stuff, and of course the olives, cranberry, sauce, cheese log and some beverages. Then we just sat the turkey on the counter to thaw overnight, and of course we didnt read the directions on how to properly thaw the turkey. The next morning we got up around 8 or 9 and set to work, which is when we realized that the turkey took 6 hours to thaw in cold water, so we put it in cold water and hoped in would only take a few hours, since it was suppose to take 3 hours to cook. I then started to make the pumpkin pie and the cheesecake. And the turkey thawed quickly, so we were able to season it and put it in the oven with plenty of time to finish the rest of dinner. I even cooked the turkey neck and inners, and then fed them to the dogs and used the water they boiled in to make gravy. Then I had to make the potatos and the yams, which was the one thing that I was afraid of messing up and is my favorite part of Thanksgiving. But might I say that I totally nailed them and they turned out perfectly. So overall our thanksgiving dinner turned out amazing.

Our Cheese log and crackers we snacked on while making Thanksgiving dinner

Yummy turkey gut and oh boy did the dogs go nuts over them

Our feast minus the dessert and the rolls

What happens when Correy and I have empty bellies and knives.
